Honolulu Board of Water Supply to resume water shutoffs due to nonpayment

The Honolulu Board of Water Supply will end its suspension of water shutoffs due to nonpayment of water and sewer bills at the end of July.

BWS deferred water shutoffs during the COVID-19 outbreak, but said in a news release today that customers are responsible for all outstanding water and sewer balances on their account.

Customers who want to avoid a water shutoff will need to make a payment or payment arrangement before July 31. Information about financial support programs can be found on the BWS website.

Customers may also contact BWS by phone to determine outstanding balances and discuss payment options. BWS may request payments; staff will not demand payment on the spot or request confidential personal or banking information.

Payment options include:

>> Using a 24/7 “Pay-by-Phone” service at 204-4234

>> Dropping off payments in a drop box outside of the building at 630 South Beretania St.

>> In-person and walk-in payments with cashiering staff in the lobby

>> Mailing payments to P.O. Box 135037, Honolulu, Hawaii 96801-5037

>> Automatic deduction from a customer’s checking account
