Honolulu police said two men, ages 59 and 68 years old, were hospitalized after the mopeds they were operating collided in Kaimuki on Saturday.
The Honolulu Police Department said a 59-year-old male was heading west on Alohea Ave. just after 10 p.m. Saturday when the blue Zhong moped he was riding was rear-ended just east of Francis St. by a 68-year-old man on a Honda moped.
Neither man was wearing a helmet at the time.
According to Honolulu Emergency Medical Services, paramedics responded at 10:10 p.m. and administered life-saving treatment to the 59-year-old, who sustained head injuries, before transporting him to a hospital in critical condition. EMS also provided life-saving treatment to the 68-year-old, who sustained serious lower leg and upper torso injuries, before police said the man was sent to a hospital in serious but stable condition.
Police said speed, alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in the collision, but an investigation continues.
