Broken water main closes Kamehameha Highway in Haleiwa

Honolulu Board of Water Supply crews are responding to a 16-inch water main break on Kamehameha Highway near Haleiwa Beach Park.

Kamehameha Highway is closed in both directions fronting Haleiwa Beach Park due to flooding. Motorists are advised to use an alternate route.

Officials said the main break was first reported at around 6:30 a.m. today, and that a BWS troubleshooter is working on-site to close valves in the area to stop water loss.

Honolulu Department of Parks and Recreation said the break may be affecting water service to the park, and that BWS is working to establish a contra-flow lane with the Honolulu Police Department.

The number of customers affected, and extent of the repair is unknown at this time, BWS said.

An update will be provided when more information is available, officials said.
