Waialua house fire displaces family of 9

A family of nine lost their Waialua home this morning to a fire.

The blaze broke out before 10:27 a.m. at 67-180 Kuhi St.

The Honolulu Fire Department received the 911 call at 10:27 a.m. and responded with 14 units and 40 personnel.

Firefighters first arrived at 10:40 a.m. and found heavy smoke and flames pouring out of the second floor of the two-story house.

Six adults and three children, who were at home at the time of the fire, managed to escape unharmed.

Firefighters aggressively fought the blaze, and protected the neighboring homes as well.

The American Red Cross was notified to assist the family.

The fire was brought under control at 10:53 a.m., and was fully extinguished at 11:36 a.m.

The cause and origin of the fire remain under investigation, and no damage estimates were available.
