Woman seriously injured after crash in Kaimuki

A 71-year-old woman was seriously injured in a crash in Kaimuki Friday. 

The crash occurred at the intersection of Harding and 3rd avenues at about 7:20 a.m. 

Maj. Ben Moszkowicz of the Honolulu Police Department’s Traffic Division said a white 2022 Toyota 4Runner was traveling west on Harding Avenue when it collided with a purple 2012 Toyota Scion that was turning right onto Harding Avenue from 3rd Avenue. 

As a result of the collision, the Toyota 4Runner driven by a 31-year-old man veered to the left across Harding Avenue and struck a home, causing exterior damage. 

The home’s chain link fence as well as steps leading to the front door of the residence sustained damage. An iron handrail near the front door was also damaged. 

Moszkowicz said the Toyota Scion driven by a 71-year-old woman veered to the right and struck a 2013 Toyota Rav4 parked in a private driveway. 

Police, the Honolulu Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services personnel responded to the crash. 

Firefighters assisted the woman and her passenger, a 5-year-old girl, out of the vehicle. 

EMS said the woman sustained multiple injuries and was taken in serious condition to a hospital.

There are conflicting reports on the child’s condition.

The 31-year-old man sustained injuries in the crash but refused medical attention at the scene.
