Forests have a pretty high cool factor for lots of reasons, including the way planting trees can sequester carbon pollutants in the air, and — don’t forget —the fact that they are pleasant places to be on these hot days.
But the 400-acre Hawaiian Legacy Reforestation Initiative site will be ultra cool from the start. Volunteers who soon will start planting trees get a special geopositioning number to track their tree as it grows. Read more about the project at legacyforest.org/haleiwa.
