The University of Hawaii Economic Research Organization is breathing a sigh of relief for Hawaii’s financial prospects — at least for now. National recession threats surely dampen prospects for tourism, and downstream there could be reason for concern here, according to a UHERO report.
But Hawaii also leans on its military sector, which is generating economic activity in construction for improvements at Pearl Harbor. Federal funds for transportation infrastructure also will help. Mahalo, Uncle Sam.
