Booming construction helps buoy Hawaii’s economy

A booming local construction industry is expected to help Hawaii’s economy maintain about average growth this year, according to a new state forecast. The Hawaii Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism estimates that Hawaii’s economy will grow 1.3% this year, which compares to an annual average of 1.4% over the last 20 years.
