Henry J. Kaiser continues to be well ahead of schedule on this multimillion-dollar Magic Island land reclamation project off Ala Moana Regional Park. Behind the dredge is new land being developed for recreational and resort uses. Construction equipment lies to the right of the dredge. Workers put up the BJ Furniture City sign on the 50,000-square-foot building that will house the state’s largest retail furniture outlet, to be opened by C.S. Wo and Sons in the Nimitz business district near Honolulu International Airport. The store will have its grand opening at the end of the month with festivities including the burning of 20,000 firecrackers.
