Man fatally shot at Kalihi illegal game room; suspect arrested
Police arrested a 38-year-old suspect on suspicion of second-degree murder Wednesday afternoon after a 30-year old man was shot in a Kalihi illegal game room.
A Honolulu Police Department report said at 10:15 p.m. Tuesday, a 911 caller reported gunshots in the area of La’a Lane. Responding officers found a man with multiple gunshot wounds.
Honolulu Emergency Medical Services officials said paramedics responded to Auld Lane around 10:30 p.m. EMS treated the man and took him in critical condition to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
HPD said an investigation determined that the victim was at an illegal game room in a residence when he was shot multiple times.
A suspect was not immediately identified but on Wednesday just after 2 p.m., a 38-year-old man turned himself in at HPD’s main station on South Beretania Street and was arrested. He remained in custody Wednesday and the investigation is pending, police said.
