The chorus of praise for the legacy of the late Pope Francis came from all corners of the globe, including many voices who were non-Catholic and those who do not count themselves in any religion. Some of it will ring out from Hawaii, as well, as the Diocese of Honolulu makes plans for a memorial Mass, to be announced.
His critics were conservatives who questioned the pontiff’s departures from faith tradition, as well as members who wanted more changes. But admirers worldwide treasured his prevailing message of humility and compassion, and stalwart advocacy for those in need.
