While 2019 isn’t expected to be a monster year for the opening of new Las Vegas projects, it won’t be a dud, either.
Leading the way will be the completion of the huge $690 million renovation of the Palms, with its totally redone pool complex opening this summer.
Also slated to open in 2019 are Kind Heaven, a $100 million Asian entertainment zone at The LINQ, the $60 million Silverton Village at Silverton, and the upgrade of the Fremont Street Experience canopy.
Meanwhile, work will be ongoing throughout the year on the big projects: Resorts World Las Vegas, the Raiders Stadium, The Drew (formerly Fontainebleau), the massive Las Vegas Convention Center expansion, the techno-wowing MSG Sphere going up behind the Venetian and the as-yet-unnamed resort being built downtown on the site of the old Las Vegas Club.
>> Palace Station movie theater: The final major piece of Palace Stations’ nearly $200 million expansion and upgrade has been put into place with the opening of the luxury Regal Cinemas. All nine theaters offer the Regal Premium Experience, with 60-foot screens, state-of-the-art digital projectors and a major-league sound system (with upward of 275 speakers). This Regal theater also introduces the Cinnebarre to Nevada, Regal’s 10th in the nation, a dining and drinking experience both in the lobby and inside the theaters.
>> Cosmo jackpot: A $1,023,743 jackpot hit at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas on Christmas Eve was the third $1 million-plus won at the casino in 2018. The latest was hit on a Wheel of Fortune slot.
Question: What was the day-after report on the big Strip NYE celebration?
Answer: Despite thousands packing the Strip and downtown on New Year’s Eve, no major altercations were reported, due in part to a substantial police presence. The biggest concern of the night was the threatening of the fireworks display by high winds, but they subsided in time for the show to go off as planned.
