Hawaiian Electric Industries Inc. nominates 3 new independent directors

Hawaiian Electric Industries Inc. said Friday that three new independent directors — Celeste Connors, Mary Powell and Jim Scilacci — were nominated for election at its annual meeting.

Connors has served since 2015 as executive director of Hawaii Green Growth, a public-private partnership focused on identifying sustainable growth priorities within an island context.

Powell has served as president and CEO of Green Mountain Power since 2008.

Scilacci served as chief financial officer of Edison International from 2008 to 2016.

Honolulu architecture firm AHL has announced the following:

>> Nathan Saint Clare has been promoted to principal. He has more than 15 years of architectural experience. While at AHL the past five years, Saint Clare’s projects included Mayor Wright Homes, Lau Hala Shops and Kalihi Palama Health Center.

>> Ethan Twer has been promoted to senior associate. Twer’s seven years with the firm include projects with the North Hawaii Community Hospital’s emergency room expansion and Hale Ola Pono Health Clinic as well as the science and math building of Brigham Young University Hawaii.

>> Frederick Hong has been promoted to associate from project architect. His six years with the firm include projects with Ae‘o Ward Village, Lili‘uokalani Trust Suite 201 and Koloa Landing. Hong’s current design project is the Mandarin Oriental Honolulu.

>> Deirdre Stearns has been promoted to associate from project architect. Her two years with the firm include projects with the Royal Hawaiian Center in Waikiki and Sheraton Maui Resort and Spa. Stearns’ current design project is the Mandarin Oriental Honolulu.
