House fire in Maui Meadows displaces 7 people

The Maui Fire Department reported that seven people are believed to have been displaced by a house fire in Maui Meadows in South Maui on Wednesday.

The fire engulfed the second story of a two-story home and caused a total damage of $388,000.

Firefighters were called at 10:51 a.m. Wednesday to a structure fire on Kehala Drive.

They found the second floor of a two-story house heavily involved with fire upon arrival.

All occupants had gotten out safely prior to the firefighters’ arrival.

Crews knocked down the blaze, and got it under control at 11:55 a.m.

The fire caused an estimated $338,000 in damage to the structure and $50,000 to contents.

Following an investigation, firefighters declared the cause of the fire as undetermined.

Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents.
