Few Hawaii contributors to U.S. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard’s presidential bid

    Of the $1.95 million Rep. Tulsi Gabbard raised in the first quarter for her presidential bid, just 3% came from her home state. Conspicuously absent from her donor list are many movers and shakers of isle politics, who instead have stepped up for Kai Kahele in his bid for Gabbard’s congressional seat.     While Kai Kahele has already attracted a list of influential donors to his bid for Tulsi Gabbard’s congressional seat, that doesn’t mean that Gabbard won’t also attract significant support if she begins campaigning locally for the House seat she has held since 2012.
