The nonprofit Japanese Cultural Center of Hawai‘i will present its annual Sharing the Spirit of Aloha gala at 5 p.m. Saturday at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort’s Coral Ballroom.

Six community leaders and organizations will be recognized for their dedication to the arts and culture, commitment to promote Japanese culture, contributions to the community and contributions to JCCH.

This year’s honorees are coach Gerald Oda and the 2018 Honolulu Little League World Series Champions, Lenn Sakata, Christine Kubota, Alan Oshima, chef Alan Wong and Carole Hayashino.

The event, which opens with a taiko performance, will feature a silent auction, dinner, awards program and musical performances by Brian Chang and Shoji Ledward.

Tickets are $250; $200 for JCCH members. Corporate sponsorships are available. Proceeds benefit the nonprofit’s educational and cultural activities, including festivals, school tours through JCCH’s historic gallery, and historic preservation projects.
