A burglar alarm and an untimely fall tripped up a burglary suspect in Hilo.
Officers responding to a burglary alarm on Kukuau Street chased after a 25-year-old man running from the home.
But the man fell in a neighbor’s yard and police caught and arrested him just after 11 p.m. Wednesday.
Police recovered two television remotes and a TV power cord near where the suspect fell.
Investigating detectives recovered a television set.
Authorities charged Colin Kerrigan, who is homeless, with first-degree burglary and third degree theft today.
He was being held on $5,500 bail pending an initial court appearance Monday.

Depends on which side of the bed Hawaii ‘ s Governor gets up from.
Much more to this than meets the eye. An insidious plot to drive the homeowner insane looking for his remote, which he KNOWS he left right on the end table. And to make matters worse, his spare back up, which he left in the fridge, is missing too!!!! Lucky for him, his lazy neighbor left a rake lying in his yard, which the culprit stepped on and was knocked senseless when the handle whacked him in the face. Another ugly crime thwarted by HCPD….next stop, Zippy’s!

Act of desperation. I imagine he was thinking of getting a couple bucks for the TV if his radar hadn’t finally turned on and told him to flee. It looks like this individual needs some psych help, maybe he went off his meds because he could’t get them being homeless. Intelligent people can do stupid things when the need to survive is a top priority. He is housed and fed for the moment, at a high cost to us.
Just a clumsy millennial who does not know which way is up. Problem aggravated by growing up with your neck bent and eyes glued to your I-phone texting other millennials. Special awareness is lost forever.
