Leeward Community College is proud to announce our new partnership with Longs Drugs®/CVS Health. Through this partnership, our Office of Continuing Education & Workforce Development’s (OCEWD) Pharmacy Technician classes will be eligible for a 100 hour externship at a local Longs Drugs® store.
With 40 locations on O’ahu, it’s an excellent opportunity to gain working experience in a real pharmacy, with potential for employment upon completion. Pharmacy Technicians are highly sought after to fill positions but there may also be opportunities to start as a clerk cashier. Once employed at Longs Drugs® a clerk cashier has hiring priority if they’d like to be promoted to the pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician.
The next Pharmacy Technician class begins on September 26, and runs until December 21, 2017. Tuition covers books, externship, lab supplies, and exam fees. In addition, participants will have access to a 5-day series of exam preparation workshops, and a practice exam, for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam. Although not required for employment, passing this exam and becoming a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT), improves employability and earning potential. The CPhT is a national certification so it will be recognized anywhere in the U.S..
