Living a sustainable lifestyle in urban Honolulu just got easier. A new transportation option, Hui Car Share, launched in July as a partnership of Servco Pacific Inc. and Toyota Connected North America. The round trip, station-based car share program offers users access to 25 stations and 70 vehicles through an easy-to-use mobile app for iOS and Android devices.
Car Share programs are already in place in major cities around the world. In these cities, a single car share vehicle has been proven to take about 20 cars off the road, reducing congestion on city streets. Hui is locally owned and operated and seeks to be part of Hawaii’s transportation solution for the future.
Hui is an amenity designed to complement bike share, public transportation, ride share, and other existing mobility options. Their commitment to sustainability can be seen in the car models offered, including the Toyota Prius and the Prius Prime.
“Our eco-friendly Toyota Prius can take you on long drives around the island or short trips to the market. Fewer carbon emissions mean you’re doing your part to ensure a healthier future for our planet”, says Peter Fukunaga, Director of Hui Car Share.
Hui Car Share will be celebrating their commitment to a greener Hawaii at the upcoming Sustainability Pop-Up event on November 2, 2018 11AM-1PM. The event will be held at Tamarind Park in Downtown Honolulu located at 1001 Bishop St, Honolulu, HI 96813.
The focus of the event will be to educate attendees about sustainable options in the transportation, energy and other sectors.
