At the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, we understand the benefits of starting your journey at a community college and completing your degree with us. Over half of our incoming transfer students come from the University of Hawai‘i Community Colleges. Whether you’re currently in pursuit or received your associate’s degree at one of our seven UH Community College campuses, the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa is committed to successfully transferring students to Mānoa.
There are three transfer options available if you are a UH Community College student.
• Standard Admission is available to any student with 24 or more transferable credits, including non-UH students. This option is also available to non-UH Community College students as well.
• The Ka‘ie‘ie transfer program offers a dual-admission, dual-enrollment program for students who are pursuing a four-year undergraduate degree, but choose to begin their journey at one of the UH Community Colleges. It is focused on students successfully transferring from the UH community colleges to UH Mānoa while completing their academic degrees.
• The Automatic Admissions transfer program allows UH Community College students to transition directly to the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa without having to re-apply and pay the application fee.
Rebecca Petit earned her associates at Windward Community College in 2016 and transferred to UH Mānoa, where she earned both her BSW ‘18, MSW ‘19. She credits the Ka‘ie‘ie transfer program for her academic success. “The Ka‘ie‘ie program is the perfect opportunity to help transition from a community college to UH Mānoa,” commented Petit. “They help you with questions regarding your major such as prerequisites, transferring your credits, and the program allows you to register for classes earlier which is a blessing because you can register for classes that may get full quickly.”
At this time, both Standard Admissions and Ka‘ie‘ie are available to transfer students applying for this upcoming fall 2020. Our application deadline is August 1.
