The families of Eriko Rekis and TJ “Tipuk” Mori held a candlelight vigil Tuesday at Mayor Wright Homes, where Mori was stabbed to death Sept. 10. The death has renewed concerns about security at the complex, and has put renewed focus on problems and strides at that and other public housing projects.

After a long wait and protests, a hot water backup system was recently completed at Mayor Wright Homes in the Kalihi-Palama area, as seen in this June photo. Solar panels and tanks have been installed on rooftops.
