Big Island police identify shooting victim

A 40-year-old Hilo man who was shot in the head at his home on Friday has died of his injuries, Hawaii island police said.

Police identified the man as Sheldon Navor.

Police said officers responded to report of a man with a gunshot wound at a Hinano Street home at about 1:55 a.m. Friday. Navor appeared to have sustained a single gunshot wound to his head and was unresponsive.

He was taken in critical condition to Hilo Medical Center where he died Monday night.

Police have ordered an autopsy to determine Navor’s exact cause of death.

Police said on Friday that a suspect or motive for the shooting had not been identified and asked anyone with information about the incident to call detective Tuckloy Aurello at 961-2385 or detective B.J. Sagon at 961-2375.
