The Street, a food hall by chef Michael Mina in Waikiki’s International Market Place, opens Friday with five of its 14 planned food and beverage outlets ready for business:
>> Aloha Ice: Specialty shave ice and upscale desserts by Michelle Karr-Ueoka, co-owner of MW Restaurant
>> Indie Girl: Kombucha on tap and treats including acai bowls
>> Lamill Coffee: A Los Angeles-based shop offering teas and cake doughnuts
>> Maui Onion Burger: With “smash-cooked” burgers — pressed flat, served two to a wide bun, making them easier to eat than burgers piled sky high
>> Beer: A bar that also will offer wine selections
Opening time is 11 a.m. Friday, and each restaurant’s hours will vary slightly after that.
Other concepts set to open soon include Mina’s Little Lafa, with Middle Eastern food folded into flatbread; Adam’s Nana Lu, chef Adam Sobel’s dishes inspired by his Italian grandmother; Mindful Greens, a salad bar; Myna Bird, a tiki bar; The Ramen Bar; International Smoke, a barbecue outlet by cookbook author and TV personality Ayesha Curry; and Kai Poke, by chef Gerald Chin.
On Memorial Day, May 29, military personnel and veterans can receive a voucher good for up to $20 in food at The Street from 2 to 6 p.m.
