The winner is… Eighteen-year-old David “DJ” Nakashima Jr. of Manoa is the winner of this month’s Honolulu Star-Advertiser Travel Photo Contest. Taken with an iPhone 7, the photo “Walking Thru Summer” captured his 23-year-old sister, Tyler Holck, walking on a wall on the island of Santorini in Greece in June. The Mid-Pacific Institute senior said he took the shot on “the spur of the moment” while the family was “acting like typical tourists.” “I saw blues I’ve never seen before, bursts of color, stuff you don’t see here,” he said. The entry submitted by DJ’s mom, Jade Ching, wins $100.
