Wheeler aviation brigade prepares for Afghan duty

Members of the 25th Combat Aviation Brigade are heading to Afghanistan in January on a yearlong deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Sara Poqhuelt, left, and her siblings, Emma and Liam, gave their father, Chief Warrant Officer 2 Kenneth Poqhuelt, a hug while their mother, Shannon, snapped a keepsake photo Friday after the deployment ceremony at Wheeler Army Airfield.

First Lt. Blake Brostrom, left, isn't the first son who his parents, Mary Jo and David Brostrom, a retired Army colonel, have seen depart for Afghanistan. Blake's brother, 1st Lt. Jonathan Brostrom, was killed in the Battle of Wanat on July 13, 2008. Blake Brostrom is a graduate of the University of Hawaii.
