The University of Hawaii softball team’s 53-game schedule released on Tuesday includes seven opponents who finished last season in the NCAA tournament.
The Rainbow Wahine open the 2016 season on Feb. 11 against Saint Mary’s in the three-day Hawaii Paradise Classic, the first of five nonconference tournaments the team will host prior to the Big West season.
The Hawaii Spring Fling Tournament set for March 9-13 features the highest concentration of NCAA regional participants, with Baylor, California and North Dakota State set to visit Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.
Ole Miss, Stanford and Iowa are also slated for RWSS appearances among UH’s 35 home games.
UH’s annual early-season trip to the DeMarini Desert Classic in Las Vegas includes matchups with BYU and Utah, both NCAA tournament teams last season, and Oregon State.
UH will play four of its seven Big West series on the road, starting with UC Davis on April 1 and 2. The Wahine then host defending conference champion CSUN and will also face Cal State Fullerton and Cal Poly at home. They’ll close the regular season the weekend of May 13-14 at Long Beach State.
Fed Cup tickets on sale Dec. 11
Tickets for the Fed Cup match between the U.S. and Poland in Kailua Kona will go on sale Dec. 11, the USTA announced on Tuesday.
The best-of-five series will be played at Holua Tennis Center on the Big Island on Feb. 6-7 in the first Fed Cup match to be played in Hawaii.
Two-day ticket packages will be sold from Dec. 11 to Jan. 7, with prices ranging from $40 to $190. Single-day tickets will be available starting Jan. 8, with prices ranging from $25 to $100 per day. Walk-up tickets ($35-$110) will be sold on match days depending on availability. Tickets will be available for purchase at usta.com/fedcup or by calling (888) 334-USTA (8782).
The first-round match in World Group II begins with two singles matches on Feb. 6. Two reverse singles matches and the doubles match are scheduled for Feb. 7.
