Hawaiian education under review
The Native Hawaiian Policy Center is analyzing the recommendations of people who commented on the reauthorization of the Native Hawaiian Education Act.

Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement board member Michelle Kauhane says the Native Hawaiian Education Act, enacted in 1998, has been critical to reviving the Hawaiian language.
Clog leads to spill of 5,200 gallons
About 5,200 gallons of wastewater spilled from a manhole on Kealoha Place into Kalihi Stream yesterday, the Health Department said.
The spill, which started about 3:40 a.m., was caused by a clogged pipe.
Residents are advised to stay out of the stream in the area behind Kuhio Park Terrace and the waters fronting Keehi Lagoon Beach Park, where warning signs have been posted.
