Kalihi man charged in break-in, theft at Akepo Arms

A 32-year-old Kalihi man has been arrested and charged after allegedly breaking into a neighbor’s apartment and taking about $650 cash.

John Kalaeopaa III was arrested Saturday afternoon at the Akepo Arms apartment complex on North King Street, police said. The victim is a 44-year-old man.

He was charged this morning with second-degree robbery and first-degree burglary. He is being held on $25,000 bail.

A second suspect is also being sought in the case, police said.
