Hawaii second baseman Kolten Wong was named a first-team All-American by Baseball America on Wednesday.
Wong lived up to preseason All-America honors by hitting .378 and leading the Rainbows with seven home runs and 53 RBIs. He was previously named a third-team Louisville Slugger All-American and was selected in the first round of last week’s major league draft by the St. Louis Cardinals.
Wong is the first UH player named to Baseball America’s first team since pitcher Bryan Duquette made the list in 1982.
