There will be special guests at the University of Hawaii football team’s Skills Camp: the participants’ parents.
In addition to instruction on techniques and fundamentals, the camp will conduct a session on academics and the eligibility requirements to play for a college team.
The three-day camp has on-field sessions from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. today, and from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. The academic session, which includes tips from UH counselors and advisers, begins at 8 a.m. Saturday. Parents of the campers are invited to attend.
The skills camp, located on the grass practice field on the Manoa campus, is open to ages 13 through high school seniors. Instruction focuses on the quarterback, receiver, running back, tight end and defensive back positions.
The three-day fee is $90 for those who pre-register, and $100 for walk-up applicants. Call (808) 956-6508 for details, or go to www.hawaiiathletics.com.
