Oceanic Time Warner Cable expects to deliver the entire University of Hawaii sports pay-per-view package in high definition for the first time and is promising expanded pregame, postgame and halftime segments for its Warriors football games this year, it said Thursday.
Prices for the 17-game offering of football and men’s and women’s basketball will remain the same as last year, the company said Thursday. Oahu renewals will be $420 and new Oahu customers will pay $500. Neighbor Island prices will be half those of Oahu.
Customers who sign up for the season-ticket package or road package will also receive Oceanic’s 13-channel digital sports package through Dec. 31, 2011.

Oceanic will reprise its $99 road package for UH football season-ticket holders.
At least nine football games and eight basketball games, four men’s and four women’s, will make up the package. Rainbow Wahine volleyball will not be included in PPV but is expected to be a staple of the inaugural UH channel that Oceanic launches next month.
The PPV football lineup could include every game except the Colorado, San Jose State and Brigham Young contests, which are scheduled to be shown on ESPN. The game at Nevada-Las Vegas is still being negotiated, Oceanic said, and will be added to the season, road and sports packages as an uncharged bonus if it is picked up.
This year’s PPV package marks the first operated solely by Oceanic, which had partnered with KFVE since 2002, and is contracted with UH through 2014. NEP Supershooters is the production provider.
"We want to make the experience of being a University of Hawaii fan that much better," said Dan Schmidt, general manager/executive producer. "We want people to understand how being there (at the game) is important. It is best to be there in person. If you can’t, we’re going to provide an opportunity for you to experience it vicariously on television and (expanded) pregame, postgame and halftime will serve to do that."
UH is guaranteed a minimum $2.3 million from its agreement with Oceanic and can earn more depending upon sales. Last year Oceanic sold slightly more than 6,000 packages and UH received $2.45 million.
"We’re very excited about building a team to take this product to the next level," Oceanic president Bob Barlow said.
Oceanic said it also will offer webstreaming of televised football and basketball events at prices ranging from $6 to $12.
Hawaiian Telcom is negotiating with Time Warner to purchase the PPV feeds, which it would market on its own. Hawaiian Telcom has yet to announce its prospective lineup or pricing.
