Buddhist center displaces downtown eateries

    Frank and Margarit Lavoie will be closing their restaurant, Kafe Europa, Wednesday. All tenants in the Tardus Financial Plaza, shown at top, are moving out because the building will be turned into a Buddhist center owned by the Hawaii Buddhist Cultural Society.

    The Hawaii Buddhist Cultural Society will renovate the two-story Tardus Financial Plaza and convert it to a Buddhist worship and cultural center with a worship hall, offices, tea house and meeting space
