Mo-ped rider, 56, dies in accident
A 56-year-old Haleiwa man died after his mo-ped was involved in a crash at Weed Circle just outside Haleiwa town at about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Police closed Kamehameha Highway in the southbound direction from Joseph P. Leong Highway. Weed Circle was closed from Kaukonahua Road to Kamehameha Highway. The roads were reopened at 5:45 p.m., police said.
The man was taken in critical condition to Wahiawa General Hospital, where he died, sources said.
It was the 31st traffic fatality on Oahu this year.
1 injured in house fire in Waipahu
Fire caused substantial damage to a home in Waipahu Tuesday evening, displacing five residents.
Firefighters responded to the call on Pilimai Street at 5:51 p.m. The blaze was reported under control at 6:21 p.m., said Honolulu fire Capt. Terry Seelig.
A man, who appeared to be in his 40s, was injured slightly when he got burned by oil, possibly from cooking, Seelig said. He received treatment at the scene but declined to go to the hospital.
Two other people were in the one-story, single-family wooden house at the time of the fire, Seelig said.
Man arrested after threats to 2 in Waikiki
Police arrested a 32-year-old Ewa Beach man who allegedly threatened a woman and a man with a handgun in Waikiki early Tuesday morning.
After the man with the gun left Waikiki following the threats, police searched for his car. An off-duty officer participating in the search stopped the suspect on the H-1 freeway just before the westbound Waikele offramp around 3:40 a.m.
He was being investigated for first-degree terroristic threatening, driving with a suspended license and a firearms offense.
Kauai police nab 22-year-old fugitive
Kauai police arrested Monday a 22-year-old Hanamaulu man wanted for two counts of contempt of court, failure to appear and bail violation.
Police said Andres "Bong" Cadiente Jr. had eluded officers who appeared at his parents’ home July 23 by diving through a second-story window.

Woman arrested in road skirmish with ex-boyfriend
Hawaii County police arrested a 22-year-old Honaunau woman Monday who allegedly tried to force off the road a pickup truck her ex-boyfriend was driving in Kailua-Kona.
Police got a call at 6:15 p.m. Monday for a reported road rage incident.
Police said two vehicles were speeding west on Hinalani Street: a red Toyota pickup truck in the westbound lane and a blue Ford sedan in the eastbound lane.
Police arrested the woman after the vehicles stopped on the shoulder.
Police said she reportedly followed the truck from Palani Road and tried to run it off the road three times on Hinalani Street, ramming it in the side and rear.
