Juvenile sex offender at large after escape
Honolulu police Thursday morning captured a 14-year-old boy in Waikiki who escaped Sunday from a juvenile sex offender treatment facility in Pearl City.
Two other juveniles with him were listed as runaways and taken into custody, police said.
Another boy, 15, who had escaped during the same incident Sunday remains at large.
The two escaped from the 10-bed facility run by Benchmark at the Waimano Training School and Hospital.
Maui motorcycle crash badly injures rider
A 31-year-old Kihei man suffered life-threatening injuries when his motorcycle crashed early Thursday morning on Lelepio Street near Kahului Airport, Maui police said.
Alcohol, drugs and speed are possible factors in the 1:46 a.m. crash, police said. The man’s 2009 Harley-Davidson motorcycle was the only vehicle involved, police said. The man was not wearing a helmet.
