Death of Schofield soldier investigated
A 34-year-old Schofield Barracks-based soldier died Friday in Kunar province, Afghanistan, the Department of Defense announced Saturday.
Spc. Jinsu Lee of Chatsworth, Calif., died "supporting Operation Enduring Freedom," according to the Department of Defense. He died of a non-battle-related injury, and his death is being investigated, the Army said.
It was Lee’s first overseas deployment since his enlistment Aug. 5, 2009, as a unit supply specialist. He leaves behind a wife and three daughters, the Army said.

County moving lifeguard tower to evade erosion
Kauai County is planning to move its lifeguard tower at Kekaha Beach because of beach erosion in the past two weeks, the county said Friday.
The move is a temporary measure to secure the tower until it can be permanently relocated about 160 yards west of its current location, the county said in a news release.
"As we have stated numerous times in the past, our lifeguards are confident that they can assure the health and safety of beachgoers from the new location. In fact, they feel the new location may be even more advantageous in protecting all who utilize the expanse of Kekaha Beach Park," Fire Chief Bob Westerman said in the release.
