East Central Maui falls again
Southern California’s Hagen Danner and Nick Pratto combined to hold East Central Maui hitless in a 3-0 win at the Little League Baseball West Regional on Saturday at San Bernardino, Calif.
Danner allowed a walk to Orion Miyasato-Frias in the first inning and struck out nine of the 13 batters he faced before being taken out after four frames. Pratto picked it up from there, striking out five of his seven batters and allowing only Nawai Kaupe to reach base on an error in the fifth inning.
Ocean View got the only run it would need when Trevor Windisch scored after walking and advancing around the bases on errors by Kaupe at short and catcher Kawena Alo-Kaonohi. East Central Maui would not commit an error the rest of the game.
East Central Maui drops to 0-2 in pool play and will take on Utah today before meeting Northern California on Wednesday. The top four teams after pool play move on to the semifinals on Friday.
