Suspect allegedly used pipe to hit victim
Police arrested a 26-year-old Makaha man Thursday on suspicion of second-degree attempted murder in a beating that allegedly occurred at 12:30 a.m. July 9 in Waianae.
Police said a 33-year-old man went to check on a family member who may have been assaulted and got into an argument with another person at the house, the suspect, 26.
The suspect struck the visiting man in the head with a metal pipe, police said.
They arrested him at his home.
Man dies of injuries from bus stop attack
A 64-year-old man who was attacked at a Kalihi bus stop died Thursday, police said.
Police said the man was sitting at a bus stop at 6:40 p.m. Aug. 5 when another man approached him and punched and kicked his face and body.
Witnesses scared off the suspect and he fled on foot.
Police said last week they did not know what triggered the incident.
The victim was taken to a hospital, where he was found to have facial fractures, police said.
A suspect has not been arrested, police said Thursday night.
The case, classified as an unattended death, is pending an autopsy by the Medical Examiner’s Office.
