Fixes made to McCully water main and road
McCully Street was reopened to traffic at about 3:30 p.m. Friday after being shut down for a little more than a day following a water main break, Honolulu Board of Water Supply officials said.
The 16-inch water main, estimated to have been installed in 1928, broke at about 2:30 p.m. Thursday near 930 McCully St. between Waiola and South King streets. Four customers were affected: two two-story walk-up apartment buildings totaling roughly 16 units, a floral shop and a single-family home, water supply officials said.
Water service was restored at about 3 a.m., but reconstruction of the road continued until Friday afternoon. Motorists were forced to take alternative routes or avoid the area altogether.

Pharmacy grads from UH-Hilo land jobs nationwide

Many have also been able to stay in the islands — the university said Wednesday more than a third of graduates accepted jobs in Hawaii.
The university reported the numbers based on the results of a graduate survey. Eighty of the 84 students who graduated with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree answered the survey.
