Teenager arrested in assault
Police arrested a 14-year-old boy Thursday in the assault an employee at a mental health facility in Kalihi.
The employee, a 27-year-old woman, was counseling the teenager when he grabbed her and placed a choke hold on her, causing pain, police said.
The woman broke free and notified other staff members. Officers arrested the teen about 2:45 p.m. for investigation of second-degree assault. He was released pending investigation.
Man held after threats to wife
A 40-year-old Kapolei man remained in custody awaiting charges Thursday night after threatening his 37-year-old wife with a knife, police said.
The couple was arguing about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday when the man went to the kitchen, grabbed a knife with an 8-inch blade and stood over his wife in a threatening manner, causing her to fear for her life, police said.
When the man walked back to the kitchen, the woman tried to flee, but the man grabbed her from behind and held her down on the sofa, police said. The woman pleaded for him to let her go, and he released her after realizing his 10-year-old daughter was watching, police said.
Officers arrested the man at 10:30 p.m. when he returned home, detaining him for investigation of terroristic threatening, abuse, second-degree assault and kidnapping.
Car damage ends in arrest
A 26-year-old man was arrested Friday after an off-duty officer spotted him urinating on a vehicle in Kailua, police said.
The man also damaged the vehicle, which was in a restaurant parking lot, at about 2:10 a.m., police said. He ran away after seeing the officer. The officer found the man on Hoolai Street and when he identified himself, the man punched him, police said.
The officer arrested the Kaneohe man on suspicion of assault and property damage.
