Fitting into the classic, sophistication of the season is the tuxedo trend, done by everyone from YSL in the classic menswear style, to Balmain for the trendy and embellished, and Jason Wu for the ultrafeminine.
I love the pant styles because it is a lot sexier and surprisingly more feminine than the skirt styles. I feel like the right tuxedo pant can make your legs look like they’re miles long.
The way to wear this trend is to avoid trying to meet in the middle. Of course you have to play with the balance of masculine and feminine, but I believe that the best way to make the trend work is to choose a side. Play up the ultrafeminine with flowy blouses or nothing under the jacket. Or play up the masculinity by wearing looser fitting materials or boxier cuts.
It’s definitely not a trend for the inexperienced but if you have the occasion to wear it, and you have the fashion chops to pull it off, this trend can be a showstopper without being over the top.

We spend so much time at work, why not step up our dressing by embracing a more polished look and adding a little glamour to our workday? My favorite trend at Macy’s is “Be Brilliant — Glamour to Work.”
This fall, opposite attraction goes beyond the traditional combinations. Start with basics you already have in your closet. Try adding a splash of color or color blocking against your traditional black skirts, pants, suits and sheath dresses by adding an unexpected pop of primary color: red, blue or yellow.
Mix rich textures as well by playing with hard-and-soft combinations, such as pairing a silk blouse with a leather skirt. It’s a hookup between light and pretty, and tough and sleek.
For more inspiration, mix in other great details such as digital prints, fur, a touch of shine, lace, sheer chiffon, feminine ruffles and sequins, perhaps secreted under a chic blazer. A touch of glamour is all you need to make it power workday.

Red is the color of the season and one of my favorites. It’s the color for all-over glam or go for small touches in handbags, clutches, pumps or hair accessories. If that’s too much drama for you, think about body adornment. I love red lips and red nails. I also love the new capes for throwing over anything you wear when the temperatures drop.

Dressing for me is all about fun, so I’m drawn to color and the drama of unexpected flourishes. I’m loving fall’s furs and leopard prints.
My first buy of the season was a pair of vintage pony-hair leopard heels that can go dressy when paired with black or fall’s rich bordeaux and wine colors, or deliver doubletakes when casually worn with denim.
And before anyone from PETA comes calling, note that many designers are heeding the message of animal activists and are adopting faux materials that are inching ever closer to the texture of real fur.
A chubby fur jacket is not the best fit for Hawaii’s climate, so look for smaller doses in a sweater or jacket collar, or in handbags.
Over at Prada, Miuccia Prada’s Eco Pelliccia clutches and handbags come in winter white, black and welcome pops of bright color usually reserved for the spring.
If all-over fur is too much to handle, a series of 3.1 Phillip Lim Lynus portfolio handbags at Neiman Marcus features just a small bottle-brush touch of rabbit fur on its strap. Throw it over your right shoulder, and if you’re wearing a tank top or slip dress, you’ll feel the sensual fur.
Evening Invitation by local designer Farida Ong also offers handbags of dyed rabbit fur, available at Collins & 8th, 560 Pensacola St. She says whenever she goes out, people can’t resist petting her purses.
