Celebrities to model at show
Prevent Child Abuse Hawaii will celebrate families at its inaugural fashion show fundraiser, “Jazzed Up and Wearing To Go,” from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii.
Local celebrity models will wear apparel from Kahala Kids, Calista, Valerie Joseph,
Up and Riding and Iolani. There also will be a silent auction and door prizes in honor of Grandparent’s Day, with entertainment by 20 Degrees North.
The buffet brunch is $45 per adult, and $25 for ages 10 and younger. Tickets are available at www.preventchildabusehawaii.org or call 951-0200.
The event will support PCAH’s educational outreach efforts to stop child neglect and abuse.
According to the state Department of Human Services, an estimated 2,174 children annually are victims of child abuse and neglect.
Polynesian fashion in focus
“Hawaii Fashion Week-Polynesian Style” will launch Saturday with a brunch fashion show featuring Tiare Teiti at Wolfgang’s Steakhouse by Wolfgang Zwiener.
The Tahitian-inspired contemporary Polynesian fashions will be modeled by the contestants of the Mr. & Miss Polynesia Pacific Pageant during the week’s finale on Sept. 17.
Models also will be wearing black pearls from Margo-La Perle de Tahiti.
The event will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a la carte or $35 set menu brunch from 11:30 a.m., and fashion show at 12:30 p.m. The set menu includes a choice of one of four cocktails; appetizer of soup, chopped salad, Caesar salad or fruit; entree of Wolfgang’s Eggs Benedict, french toast, omelette, rigatoni bolognese or petite filet mignon ($10 more); and coffee or tea.
Admission is free with any brunch or lunch purchase. Reservations are being taken at 922-3600 or www.opentable.com. One-hour validation is free at Royal Hawaiian Center, and $1 per hour for up to three more hours.
Tiare Teiti also will offer coupons that can be redeemed at its new flagship store, to open in October at Ward Warehouse.
Race to benefit from shirt sales
Crazy Shirts has joined the fight against breast cancer with the launch of rose-dyed T-shirts, pink luggage tags and a pink Sharka plush toy, priced from $3 to $31.
Developed in partnership with the Susan G. Komen Hawaii Race for the Cure, the items will be available through the catalog at www.crazyshirts.com and at select retail stores beginning Monday, with a portion of the proceeds going to the race.
The shirt features a design of intertwining hearts, roses and awareness ribbons. The words “Susan G. Komen” and “Seventeen Strong” line the top and bottom of the pattern, which includes a female runner.
Also, the University of Hawaii Urban Garden Center, 955 Kamehameha Highway in Pearl City, is celebrating breast cancer awareness with a Pink Plant Sale from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.
The sale will feature plants and herbs with pink flowers, foliage or accents.
The 17th annual Susan G. Komen Hawaii Race for the Cure will take place Oct. 16, with more than 7,000 runners and walkers expected at Kapiolani Park.
The Race for the Cure celebrates breast cancer survivors.

Sephora to host dermatologist at 2 locations
