‘Hawaii 5-0’ premiere finishes second
McGarrett, his trusty crew and the evil Wo Fat launched the second season of "Hawaii Five-0" Monday night with strong viewing numbers, according to Nielsen ratings released by CBS.
"Five-0" drew 12.19 million viewers to the premiere of its sophomore season and finished second in the hour to ABC’s "Castle," which drew 13.28 million viewers. The pilot of the NBC drama "The Playboy Club" drew 5.02 million viewers.
On Monday among adults 18-49, a key target audience, "Five-0" attracted 3.4 percent of the total viewing audience and 8 percent of those who were watching TV at the time. "Castle" attracted 3.2 percent of the total viewing audience and 8 percent of those watching TV.
Isle meetings to coincide with APEC
Hawaii’s business community will get an inside look at Asia-Pacific issues affecting the island at a two-day conference to be staged in conjunction with the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit.
The Nov. 9-10 conference by the Pacific Basin Economic Council and the East-West Center will feature international business experts and top executives in town for APEC, and will center on topics including regional sustainability, trade, public-private partnerships and the roles of small and medium enterprises. The two-day conference will be at the Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa and costs $750 per person, which includes lunch and an evening reception.
Also on Nov. 10 at the Halekulani, the APEC Business Advisory Council will host a small-to-medium enterprise symposium. The half-day event will cover the ways local businesses can go global. The cost is $150.

Henk Rogers to speak at conference
Entrepreneur and investor Henk Rogers will be one of the featured speakers at the 2011 Hawaii Venture Capital Summit from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 4, at the Sheraton Waikiki.
Speakers will discuss how to build a business that will attract investment capital.
The event is organized by High Technology Development Corp., the Hawaii Strategic Development Corp. and Enterprise Honolulu.
