Leilehua alum Manley out for season
New Mexico State quarterback Andrew Manley (Leilehua ’10) will miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL suffered in a 16-10 loss to UTEP on Saturday.
Manley finished the game 20-for-37 for 242 yards and a touchdown.
Manley, who led the Mules to a state football championship and a runner-up finish, hurt his right knee on the final offensive play of the game, according to the Las Cruces Sun-News.
The Sun-News also reported that NMSU head coach DeWayne Walker believes Manley is still eligible to receive a medical redshirt that would allow him to carry his current sophomore status into next season.
"I think he’ll have a good chance of getting that back, a medical redshirt," Walker said in the report.
Manley played five games as a true freshman last season. He was scheduled to return to play against Hawaii on Oct. 22 at Aloha Stadium.
