"Battleship" is coming back to Hawaii.
The 2012 summer action movie is returning to Oahu for additional shooting, local casting director Katie Doyle said.
She said director Peter Berg "is coming back to re-shoot some pivotal scenes, and he has asked us to find a few new characters."
It’s her job to find about 10 "old salts" who can appear to be 70 to 80 years old to portray "passionate veterans" able to "think on their feet and have fun ad-libbing" while on camera.
"We need war vets or actors who can appear to be vets and be enthusiastic," she said. "This is in addition to the 30-odd folks that we’ve already used that Peter enjoyed working with. He’d like these 10 men to have some acting chops and don’t necessarily have to be SAG (members of the Screen Actors Guild).
"They have to be in good physical shape, and comfortable and confident on set. Peter loves to find interesting faces."
Doyle said auditions are scheduled to start "within the next 14 days," and filming will take place over a two-day period in early November.
"We’ll review everybody," she said.

"Battleship" is based on the classic naval combat game and expanded to include an action-adventure, sci-fi theme. It stars Alexander Skarsgard, Liam Neeson, Taylor Kitsch, Brooklyn Decker, Tadanobu Asano and Rhianna.
