1. Pollard produces
» Situation: LaTech 6, Hawaii 0, 7:23 remaining, first quarter, Hawaii ball, first and 10 at Hawaii 29
» The Play: WR Royce Pollard gets behind the cornerback and safety and makes a difficult catch on a pass by QB Bryant Moniz for a 44-yard gain.
» Impact: On the next play Pollard catches another pass, this one a crossing pattern for a 27-yard touchdown. It is the first of three TDs for Pollard, who catches 10 passes for 216 yards.
» Moniz: "A lot of times when I’m in trouble, I throw it up there and let Royce make plays. I know he can make plays."
2. Sacks

» The Play: LB Corey Paredes sacks QB Nick Isham for a 9-yard loss.
» Impact: The loss pushes LaTech out of field-goal range. On the next play, LB Daryl McBride Jr. gets through for another sack, for 11 yards, and the half ends.
» Isham: "(Hawaii) came out playing fast and hard. We just didn’t maintain the intensity that we had on our first drive as a team."
3. Great escape

» The Play: Under pressure directly in front of him, Moniz manages to get off a pass to WR Billy Ray Stutzmann in the back of the end zone.
» Impact: The play highlights Moniz’s athleticism, escapability and sixth sense for his receivers. He completes 34 passes in 55 attempts for 410 yards with no interceptions. He has been intercepted just once all season.
» Stutzmann: "I’m not sure how he found me, but that was a hell of play by Mo. I just had to catch the ball. He had to avoid all of that, and get the ball off."
4. Route jump
» Situation: Hawaii 27, LaTech 13, 7:50 remaining, third quarter, LaTech ball, first and 10 at LaTech 49
» The Play: SS Richard Torres anticipates Isham’s pass into the right flat, intercepts it and returns it 49 yards for a touchdown.
» Impact: Torres’ second pick-six of the season deflates LaTech, which started the drive with good field position and a first down.
» Torres: "When I saw it, I kept thinking, ‘Catch the ball.’ I caught it and took off. I knew the ball was going to come out quick because we had such great pressure."
5. Tank attack
» Situation: Hawaii 34, LaTech 13, 7:46 remaining, third quarter, Hawaii kicking off
» The Play: Charles Clay forces a fumble by Lyle Fitte. Tank Hopkins scoops up the ball and runs 16 yards for a touchdown.
» Impact: Hawaii scores a touchdown in each of the three phases within less than 2 minutes of game time to go up by four touchdowns on the road.
» Hopkins: "I picked it (up), saw the open field, and ran," Hopkins said.
