Weekly honor to BYUH’s Hagemeyer
Brigham Young-Hawaii junior outside hitter Lauren Hagemeyer earned player of the week honors by helping the Seasiders go 3-0 on the road. She had a combined 50 kills in hitting .379 in two wins over Grand Canyon and one over Dixie State. She averaged 4.17 kps and added three block solos and seven block assists.
Honor roll
Shih Ting Chen, BYUH: The freshman middle had 56 kills, eight aces, 53 digs and three block assists in the Seasiders’ three road wins.
Ying Chun Chen, BYUH: The freshman setter had 139 assists and seven aces in the Seasiders’ 3-0 week.
Hillary Hurley, UHH: The senior middle led the conference in scoring, including 121 kills, as the Vulcans went 3-1 on the road.
Pihana Kea, HPU: The junior setter out of Punahou had 43 assists in the Sea Warriors’ 3-1 win over Chaminade.
Olivia Lane, UHH: The freshman middle had two block solos and 14 block assists with 26 kills, hitting .345, on the Vulcans’ 3-1 road trip.
Lehuanani Oleole, AAU: The freshman setter out of Roosevelt had 43 assists in the 3-2 loss to Holy Names.
Losaline Pula, BYUH: The senior hitter led the conference in digs per set with 7.08 (85 total) as the Seasiders went 3-0.
SOCCER
Seasiders’ goalie McCain cited
Brigham Young-Hawaii sophomore goalie Megan McCain was named the player of the week after consecutive shutouts of Grand Canyon and Hawaii Pacific.
McCain stopped five shots in the 0-0 double-overtime tie with the ’Lopes and had eight saves in a 3-0 victory over the Sea Warriors.
Women’s honor roll
Andrea Aguirre, HPU: The sophomore midfielder out of Kalani scored the opening goal in a 2-0 victory over Grand Canyon.
Rylei North, BYUH: The freshman forward scored two goals in the 3-0 win over Hawaii Pacific.
Men’s honor roll
Chance Bukoski, HPU: The senior forward out of Kapaa had the game’s first two goals and assisted on the third as the Sea Warriors shut out BYU-Hawaii 5-0.
Truls Lystad, HPU: The sophomore defender scored the final two goals and added an assist in the 5-0 win over the Seasiders.
BASEBALL
Benefit scheduled for Vulcans baseball
Na Hoku Hanohano Awards recording artist Mark Yamanaka is the featured performer at the Hawaii-Hilo baseball program benefit Oct. 30 at the Naniloa Volcanoes Resort.
Yamanaka’s debut album “Lei Pua Kenikeni” was tabbed as the 2011 album of the year He also won awards for male vocalist and most promising artist, and his “Kaleoonalani” took song of the year. A silent auction and no-host cocktails begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by a buffet dinner. Tickets are $75. Conference expands its social media sites
The PacWest had added the PacWest Channel on YouTube as one if its new social media initiatives.
The channel (“pacwestconference”) features a variety of videos that highlight players, coaches and the campuses around the conference.
