DVF opens doors with ready-to-wear goods
The DVF store (that’s Diane von Furstenberg) is officially open at Ala Moana Center. The store was due to open its doors following a Hawaiian blessing at 8:30 this morning. Fans of the designer can now shop the full DVF ready-to-wear and accessory collections at her first Honolulu boutique.
Von Furstenberg launched her career with her now iconic knit-jersey wrap dress in the 1970s. She isn’t here for the opening, but is expected to visit sometime in the coming months.
Model Ambrosio on hand for VS opening
Victoria’s Secret’s new Kalakaua Avenue boutique has it’s soft opening today and will welcome model Alessandra Ambrosio to help launch the grand opening from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. She’ll be available to meet and pose for photos with customers.
The new store at the Waikiki Shopping Plaza will house a Bra Salon and Panty Boutique, the brand’s collegiate Victoria’s Secret PINK collection and a Beauty Bar carrying the VS Makeup collection. The store will also carry the Swim collection year-round.
Chaplain Lane shoppin’ and boppin’
Shop, Bop & Grind returns to Chaplain Lane at Bethel Street, from 6 to 9 p.m. on First Friday.
Shop for one-of-a-kind apparel, handmade hats and jewelry at this miniature street bazaar featuring such brands as Kisa Kosmos and Sassy Lassy, plus new artists and designers. Among the vendors are:
» Newsense Clothing: a brand inspired by street art and music.
» Hello Space Girl: screen-printed art, T-shirts and tote bags showcasing imaginary creatures.
» AltPercept: playful jewelry and accessories made with embroidery thread, wire, feathers and beach glass.
» Charisma Industries: Wizard T-shirts in fun colors.
Lemongrass Cafe gets in on Oktoberfest
Pacific Gateway Center’s Lemongrass Café will celebrate Oktoberfest beginning 5:30 p.m. Friday with German music and free sausages and hot potato salad, with German beers sold at the bar.
Local jewelry designer Aloma Wang will also be there, sharing her one-of-a kind bracelets made of beads, sterling silver and faceted glass. Her standard serpentine bracelets sell for $9.99 or $15.99 for 15 beads that you can select yourself. She will also show her lei hulu feather designs.
The Pacific Gateway Center is at 720 N. King St.
Laka helps on breast cancer awareness
