Seven-time Tour de France cycling champion Lance Armstrong, who finished fifth at last month’s XTERRA U.S. Championship in Snowbasin, Utah, did a test run of the new Kapalua 12K run course last month.
XTERRA world championship officials are preparing for his potential entry in the Oct. 23 offroad trail race in Kapalua.
XTERRA officials said Armstrong has not yet entered the race, which is being held for the first time at Kapalua. The world championship has been held in the Wailea area since 1996.
Armstong was the top-ranked under-19 amateur triathlete in 1987 when he was 16 and soon after turned pro. He concentrated on cycling beginning in 1992.
