2 Kauai men arrested in ATM theft case
Kauai police have arrested two men who allegedly stole an automated teller machine from Anchor Cove Shopping Center in Lihue, police said Tuesday.
Joseph Rapozo III of Anahola was charged with first-degree robbery in connection with the Sept. 26 theft.
Rapozo, 26, was arrested three days after the incident. He also was charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest, second-degree assault of a police officer and second-degree promotion of a dangerous drug. Rapozo was being held at Kauai Community Correctional Center in lieu of $69,000 bail.
Police also arrested a 48-year-old Kapaa man Monday for first-degree robbery relating to the ATM theft. He was being held at a police cellblock in lieu of $30,000 bail. Charges are pending.
Three years ago Kauai police investigated the theft of three stand-alone ATMs that were privately owned and not connected to major banks in Hawaii.
Wife accused in knife attack on husband
A 27-year-old Ewa Beach woman was arrested Monday night after allegedly stabbing her husband with a kitchen knife during an argument.
Police said the victim, 32, managed to fend off the attack and call police. He was taken to a hospital, treated and released.
The incident happened at about 9:40 p.m. The woman was arrested at an Laulauna Street address at about 10:39 p.m. She was being held pending a charge of attempted murder.
Attack in car could lead to kidnap charge
Police arrested a 38-year-old Makakilo man early Monday for allegedly holding his girlfriend against her will and threatening her with a knife.
Police said the two got into an argument while driving in the Sandy Beach area at about 6 p.m. Sunday. He would not let her get out of the car. At one point the man held a knife on her and also pushed her face against the car window, police said.
The man, of a Makakilo Drive address, was being held pending charges of kidnapping, first-degree terroristic threatening and third-degree assault.
Traffic mishap leads to threats and arrest
A 34-year-old Waipahu man was arrested after allegedly threatening a woman following an accident in Pearl City that involved both their vehicles.
The incident took place on Kamehameha Highway near Waimano Home Road at about 9:11 a.m. Monday, police said.
The suspect became upset and threatened the woman, 49, before leaving the scene.
Police found him and arrested him on suspicion of first-degree terroristic threatening, criminal property damage and refusing to give information at an accident scene.
