Those with dietary restrictions can miss out on the resort dining experience because the food just doesn’t meet their needs.
The Fairmont Orchid Hawai‘i is offering Lifestyle Cuisine Plus at all of its restaurants, with meals suitable to those with diabetes, heart disease and gluten allergies. The menu also caters to macrobiotic, raw and vegan diets.
Examples: Kalbi Chicken Vegetable Fried Rice (gluten-free) and Buckwheat Noodle Stir Fry (vegan).

Volcano center offers art, tours
The Volcano Art Center in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park offers free exhibits, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
Now showing is "Embracing ‘Ohi‘a," a group exhibit of the Pacific Island Printmakers, open through Nov. 6.
The center also offers "Niaulani Nature Walk," a free one-hour tour through an old-growth Hawaiian rain forest, at 9:30 a.m. Mondays in November. The walk introduces native plants and birds of Volcano, and the biological, ecological and geological features of the area. It also covers traditional uses of flora and fauna.

Kauai hosts slack-key festival
The Hilton Kauai Beach Resort hosts the 19th annual Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar Festival — Kauai-Island Style from noon to 6 p.m. Nov. 20.
Along with performances by a variety of artists, the free event will include food booths, crafts, exhibits and information booths set up by community groups.
